‘Bombay Jazz’ is a beautiful semi-autobiographical musical play. It chronicles the story of Goan and Anglo-Indian musicians – who pioneered a new wave and brought jazz influences into the music of Hindi films between the 1950s and 1970s. The musical features an amalgamation of jazz, rock‘n’roll, sax & violins. It addresses egos and alcoholism. And it ponders upon love, passion and financial struggles.
Written by Ramu Ramanathan, the musical is based on the meticulous research by Naresh Fernandes. It’s brilliantly directed by Etienne Coutinho. Merlin D’souza has done a fabulous job with the music and Denzil & Rhys have great chemistry and have done a splendid job.

‘Ek Haan’ is based on a discussion of the stories of the renowned, pragmatic yet controversial writer – Manto. He is justifying himself to a journalist who is advocating society against his stories. However, no one knows who the mysterious journalist is. It’s mystery as to whether she’s engaging with Manto as she seeks revenge or whether it is to complete her untold story.
The play is based on the story of the notorious life and times of the most influential writers of his time, Saadat Hasan Manto and it deals with the socio-political and emotional turmoil of the pre and post-independence era.

Khamosh Adalat Jaari Hai (Originally - Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe), was written in Marathi by the inimitable playwright Vijay Tendulkar in 1963. It chronicles the events of a mock trial turns into a gripping drama about desire, gender issues, power and control. It brings up questions such as – who are we (society) to give women the freedom. Why should freedom be given, when it’s an inherent birth right. It also explores the fundamentals of a woman’s right to choose amongst others. This mock trail during the rehearsal of a play turns into a tragic prosecution.
