Part of Motley’s 40-year celebration, they present ‘Aurat Aurat Aurat’ at Prithvi theare this week.

The plot revolves around the life of the author Ismat Chugtai, who was always going against the wind of traditions, patriarchy & traveling far & wide, while raising her voice against anything that was out of the ordinary.

An all-female cast that interprets & reprises selections from Ismat Chughtai’s autobiography, and three other writings. The original works are essays and not stories that reflect Ismat’s enduring apprehension regarding the state of womanhood. They also bring to light her impatience with hollow rituals as well as her rage at the disdain women are subjected to.
